Ines Duarte and Jonathan Duarte are the Directors of Small World Preschool. Jonathan Duarte is the youngest of three sons of Esperanza and Fernando Duarte and was the first student enrolled at Small World in 1987. Jonathan and Ines met in late 2011 while working at a Montessori School in Bogotá, Colombia. Jonathan was a Director for the English Middle School department and Ines taught Pre-Kinder at the time. The two eventually married in 2016 and are expecting their first child in May of 2020.
Jonathan ‘Mr. Johnny’ Duarte began his job history at Small World assisting in the field trips in the summer program in 1998. This blossomed into various roles throughout high school and College, mainly focusing on the Summer Programs and Marketing. Upon graduating from Texas State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Johnny spent time in Real Estate before getting into IT Sales. Johnny is the Director of Operations and will be focusing on implementing Technology to the classrooms and introducing our new digital platform to our families.
Ines Duarte spent 2 years as the Director of our second Round Rock location before taking some time off to be with her family. Mrs. Duarte comes to us from Barranquilla, Colombia where she was born and spent most of her life until a mid-2016. Mrs. Duarte attended Pontificia Universidad Javeriana which is considered one of the best Universities in Latin America. Mrs. Duarte holds a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Director's license with the State of Texas. Mrs. Duarte began her career at a Private Preschool in Bogota- The Montessori British School, teaching Pre-Kinder and Kindergarten. After four years, Mrs. Duarte decided to return home to Barranquilla to accept a role at the Nationally renowned Private School, Karl C Parrish. This was the first exposure to the Reggio Emilia Philosophy for Mrs. Duarte and she’s excited to bring this knowledge and experience to Small World. Most recently, Mrs. Duarte spent time in a Reggio Emilia based Private School in Austin, Texas. Mrs. Duarte led a staff of 10 teachers where she assisted training and development along with front office responsibilities.
